Eternal Edifice seeks to rejuvenate the historic Restormel Castle in Cornwall, England, by transforming If into a vibrant social hub that melds ancient charm with modern amenities. Drawing inspiration from the castle’s iconic circular design, the project introduces an interactive platform with a water feature that traces the original moat’s path, seamlessly integrating with the existing ruins while enhancing their historical context.

The platform serves a variety of functions, creating a unified public space. It Includes a gallery that bridges historical artifacts with contemporary art, encouraging a dialogue between eras; An open park provides a tranquil, historically resonant green space ideal for community events; while an open café offers a social venue for dining and socializing amid the castle’s atmosphere. Using recycled plastic, 3D-printed English Norman columns and sculptures are placed around to complement the majestic ruins, with clear pathways and ramps ensuring accessibility for all.

Additionally, the platform is designed to stabilize the castle’s walls and prevent further deterioration, while preserving unobstructed views of the castle and its surrounding landscape. No renovations are made inside the castle, preserving its medieval ambiance.

Eternal Edifice honors Restormel Castle’s historical significance while reimagining ifs role in the present-day urban environment. By integrating cultural, recreational, and social elements, the project revitalizes the castle as a dynamic part of both the city’s past and Its future, enriching the experience for locals and tourists.
