INTERNATIONAL RENDERING COMPETITION – INFINITE REALITIES 2024
Organized by Archiol Competitions
The Nexus is designed as a multi-level, flowing, and amorphous structure, with no clear beginning or end. Its exterior is a seamless sculpting of physical material, giving the illusion that parts of the building are dissolving into thin air or extending into other dimensions. The building appears to shift in shape and size as you move around it, creating a fluid, almost ethereal presence that reflects the idea of alternate realities. From certain angles, parts of the building appear invisible, while other areas seem to expand infinitely, as if stretching into another plane of existence. Visitors experience an ever changing exterior that blurs the lines between the material world and virtual dimensions. Inside the Nexus, the building defies traditional notions of space and geometry. Using quantum computing and augmented reality (AR), different areas of the structure are designed to overlap or exist in multiple dimensions at once. This allows for “non-Euclidean” rooms that appear larger on the inside than they seem from the outside. As inhabitants move through the building, they encounter portals and passageways that seem to fold space, leading them to areas that may not logically connect based on standard physical laws. The building features rooms with adjustable dimensional properties, where virtual projections create the sensation of infinite space, moving walls, or even floating architecture.
At the heart of the Nexus is a central hub, known as the Nexus Heart, where users can fully immerse themselves in alternate realities. This space has a highly advanced VR and AR system, where users can plug into multiple virtual worlds layered over the physical structure. The Nexus Heart enables people to experience entire alternate dimensions of space and time within the building, allowing them to explore vast, surreal environments, interact with virtual avatars, or even project themselves into far-off galaxies. Through bio-sensors, the building adapts to the physical and emotional states of its inhabitants, altering virtual projections and spatial experiences to match their energy levels, stress, or focus. The virtual world can become more dynamic or tranquil depending on the user’s needs, creating a constantly shifting environment that merges reality and the digital world seamlessly.
