S.O.A.R Skyscraper
Openness in the context of architecture can mean unobstructed experience within and outside the building. This helps connect spaces and achieve a fluid environment which enhances the overall comfort of the users. Through openness, individuals maintain their relation with the surrounding world and with other people. This also allows natural light and ventilation, creates views of the outdoors, and encourages a sense of community.
Skyscrapers often dominate a city. They tend to isolate people with their omnipresence. In addition, tall buildings consume a lot of energy due to more artificial lighting, ventilation, and other functional requirements. Their massive characteristics can also reduce the possibilities for views and open communal interactions. With this in mind, one of the aims of the design is to minimize these disadvantages through the concept of “openness” of the building.
Through this approach, a building can create connections with both the people and the environment. The proposed skyscraper will not just be a colossal structure but a livable community that can SOAR the sky.
