Less is more one might say. In the course of human endeavour to shape the world, it has been demonstrated that a simple trace built upon a pristine island can be as impactful as a city. The conceptual framework is developed around a courtyard, known as “la corte” in Italian. This liminal space is all about arrival, passage, movement, and habitation.

The object’s impact is to be considered, yet it is also designed to blend into its surroundings, achieving a state of almost complete invisibility through the use mirrored prefabricated panels of metal, complemented by a series of dark burnt wood claddings, which exude resilience and durability.

Ultimately the shelter must never lose its essence as a welcoming sanctuary. It brings the traveller’s journey to an end at a panoramic observatory that stands, much like a lighthouse, as a reassuring beacon over the landscape.
