A new concert hall for Rome. The prestige, historical importance and dimensions of the Coliseum makes it the perfect candidate for becoming the host of the biggest 3D printed building known to mankind.
This technique would optimize material quantity with different internal pattern sizes and less matter all along the hight of the structure, ensuring efficiency and sustainability. The existing foundations would be meticulously consolidated, preserving the historical integrity of the Flavian theater.
The Roman concrete, celebrated for its low environmental impact and self-healing properties, will ensure longevity and sustainability of the building. The non-ferrous structure relies solely on compression, stabilized by a central ring, highlighting engineering prowess and durability.
The way I designed the enveloppe addresses environmental concerns with a thoughtful wind management system. The open roof and strategically placed façade openings facilitate natural wind flow.
The project infuses a subtle contemporary twist, repurposing the top floor, traditionally reserved for women and slaves, into public, free spaces. These areas will host art galleries and a set of free bleachers because we want this building to act as a projection and a facilitation towards a more inclusive society.
