What we have been calling modernity for the past two centuries is an increase in the energy consumed per capita. With the colonization of the world by machines, a critical energy threshold was crossed, resulting in an increase in speed, a loss of individual autonomy and a crisis of sensitivity towards the living world. In Pedal City, people have demodernized the city. Machines are still part of daily life, but their place has been radically rethought. This new alliance calls for a reconsideration of the body’s involvement, the role of technology and the threshold of energy and mechanical force actually required to meet the essential needs. Pedal City is a low-tech city where ingenuity rhymes with necessity, where conviviality made possible by the retooling of people, polyactivity, learning and the search for the right distance from the world punctuate the lives of the citizens. Pedal City is a circular garden city modelled on the Utopias of the early 20th century, but in tune with the aspirations and challenges of the 21st century: communal land, manufactory, shared gardens, energy cooperatives, tree-lined streets and infrastructure-free mobility. In Pedal City, the pedalboard and the bike-machine balance the new energy, production and social relations.

The concept have a strong statement. The Architecture promotes a healthier lifestyle and a more environmental friendly way of living. The presentation aesthetic follows the concept. Well Done.

Strong, powerful and holistic bicycle concept with a nod to the past and a serious call with a smile for a sustainable future.
