Kelly aspires to become an architect driven by mission. She believes architecture is more than just designing buildings, but an instrument to advocate social change and stimulate a positive community. Alongside her studies, Kelly very much enjoys being active in design competitions to challenge her creative thinking. Her team project was awarded Best Project for Amsterdam Site in the Communities 2050 Design Competition organised by Nonarchitecture, Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen (UPDIS) and Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). In addition, another of her team project was chosen as a finalist for the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Camp: A Sustainable Development Center Design Competition in Zambia organised by Archistorming and the local NGO, PROVS. Recently she was highly commended with her solo project in the 2023 AAA Tāmaki Makaurau Architecture Awards, and her team project was the winner in the Degrowth category of the award. The project was also exhibited in the 2023 NUWAO International Symposium: Nature-based Urban Climate Adaptation for Wellbeing.
