Evolution is multiplication, infusion and contribution. There is no order to it, but there is constancy and stability. Every iteration is empirical. In architectural endeavour evolution is innate, even independent of our professional actions. As we expect architects to progress in a timely manner, we also lack organic architectural and urban development. Sometimes we long to escape our built environments, and disconnection between us becomes the default.
Despite its increasing complexity and diversity, architecture is hijacked each time standards need to be maintained as the systems of our cities change. Acting on triggers, we become agile, but never autonomous. Evolution knows no order, but continuous conduct. Finding out the way to do it is worth the effort of advancing systems, sharing power and form-finding nexus. Simply put, rewinding our perceptions of ourselves, spatial intelligence and the autonomy of architecture.
“Cube Of Klauzura” is a feeling of an open-source entity that we can imagine and sustain with solar energy. Entering the cube, once lifted on an electric platform, you sink into a mycelial ‘cocoon’. Immersed and unarmed, you can connect with the matter of space around you, the intelligence outside of you, by focusing, opening and finding balance.
Jury Comments
– [Hamidreza Khademi] Innovative use of mycelium and solar energy. The electric lifting platform and mycelial ‘cocoon’ present engineering challenges. Ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for visitors inside the cube is crucial.
– [Nichola V. Barrington-Leach] An interactive installation in the centre of Venice is an interesting idea and could be developed.
– [Olli Andrew] Nice installation but lack a clear design exterior doesn’t look very considered.
