Suture or Severance? The Line envisions a 170-km-long city embodying extreme spatial and digital compression within vertical urbanism. Each enclosed module integrates essential infrastructure and amenities, yet the city cuts through the desert, impacting its ecosystem. This drawing exposes the inherent contradiction: while the Saudi Crown Prince’s vision aims to bolster political influence and create a global icon, The Line acts as a zipper linking desert to sea. However, its imposing 500-metre structure also divides the landscape, leaving a lasting separation on either side.
