Cathedral of Sound is an immersive installation that combines the emotional power and acoustic effect of church vaults with the energy of modern music festivals.
It creates a dynamic interplay of sound, space and interaction. Festival visitors can play directly on the hard, reflective elements of the modular structure to create sounds. The space becomes a stage on which sound and architecture merge.
Visually, the installation quotes Gothic architecture with a translucent covering that allows light and shadow to play dramatically. Acoustically, the shape of the structure creates different sound zones that change the visitor’s perception and create an intimate connection to the music.
The sustainable plug-in system of sleeves and clamps allows for easy customisation and reuse. This means that the installation can be used not only at festivals, but also in urban or cultural spaces as an art and sound experience. The construction works completely without electricity and electronics, making it environmentally friendly and flexible in its application. It lives exclusively from the interaction with visitors and the power of sound.
Architecture and music can create a transformative experience – an invitation to experience sound in a completely new way.
