“Reimagining Gas Stations for a Colossal Thirst”
What if giants roamed our world, repurposing our infrastructure for their own needs?
Fuel for Giants humorously reinterprets gas stations as oversized drinking fountains for colossal beings. Instead of radically transforming their design, this project embraces their existing architectural form, simply shifting the perspective: fuel pumps become giant straws, and stations turn into refreshment points.
This ironic approach questions the need to reinvent everything at all costs. By maintaining the recognizable structure of gas stations, the project highlights the surreal contrast between scale and function, challenging conventional architectural thinking.
Through a playful yet critical lens, Fuel for Giants invites us to reconsider the way we perceive and repurpose urban spaces. If a small shift in perspective can make gas stations a source of hydration for giants, what other unexpected transformations could redefine our built environment?
Jury Comments
– The original concept stands out with its spontaneity, challenging conventional perceptions of scale and reality. The chosen presentation style seamlessly aligns with the idea, creating the intrigue that this might be just one illustration from a larger, captivating story. | Elizaveta Oputina
– Fuel for Giants goes beyond reimagining the gas stationโs programโit cleverly challenges fundamental assumptions about scale and use. By redefining the target user as a fictitious one of different size and needs, the project embraces a speculative approach that raises thought-provoking architectural questions of defamilizarization and reuse. The exceptional execution of the drawing, blending architectural axonometric representation with digital illustration techniques, powerfully conveys the projectโs concept in a witty and critical proposal. | Pablo Castillo Luna
