We are constantly running between two antipodes throughout our long life, seeking the right answers. Sometimes we find that we are on the opposite road to what we think is right, or better, but if we change the way we look and think, we might find the fact is on the contrary. Along the virtual line that connects London and the Antipodes Island, the two retreats are built at two ends of the island, which can also be considered as antipodes to each other in the territory of the Antipodes Island. Materials are selected as corten steel and timber (glulam and charred wood), for sustainable long-term use in the context and a comparative metaphor. The pre-fabrication process and the position of the sites (at the edge of the island) also provide convenience to the construction. One retreat is in an inward form with glulam frame and corten steel façade, which is for visitors to reflect on themselves; the other is in an outward form with corten steel frame and charred wood façade, which is for visitors to observe the wildlife.
