As society’s consciousness and technology advance, the concept of prisons is gradually evolving. Many inmates are not inherently evil; numerous individuals who have committed minor mistakes should not be deprived of their right to live. Based on this issue, I have conceptualized them as “Pioneers of Redemption,” with the hope that they can utilize their abilities to aid in the exploration of Mars. In terms of form, the inspiration comes from lichens. The main structure of the architecture is an adaptation of the panopticon prison space, modified for circular panoramic views. The architecture’s interior paths and modular living areas are inspired by the symbiotic interweaving of fungi and cyanobacteria found within lichens, creating a diversified system of transportation and space. This project, named “Redemption Pioneers,” embodies sustainable lifestyle choices through its bionic design, echoing the ethos of self-redemption. It stands as a testament to interstellar rehabilitism, where the redemptive journey of these “pioneers” on Mars serves as a beacon of hope and innovation, challenging the traditional paradigms of confinement and rehabilitation.
