In today’s society, the general public have little say on the concepts of climate change and construction, while huge skyscrapers line our cities and greenhouse gases are pumped in the air. With architecture being one of the largest contributors to climate change, it is time to awaken the world to the sustainable forms of construction and innovation that are taking place in every corner of the globe.
In order to achieve this, the biennale becomes a space for change, a platform for interactivity, collaboration and innovation. A space where the public can learn create and connect to produce spaces, art and architecture using biomaterial technologies and sustainable techniques to create their own exhibition.
Each countries pavilion becomes a space for learning, a workshop where biomaterials and sustainable methods of construction that are currently being developed are displayed and presented.
With the implementation of an interactive interface between the public and the materials, the public are encouraged to design and participate to create their own biennale, whether interacting physically and constructing the pieces or interacting through a virtual environment where the information is publicly accessible.
In this way, accessibility, interactivity and connectivity provide the path for everyone to become a part of the biennale, a place where knowledge is shared and the philosophy that ‘anyone can create’ is fulfilled in a sustainable matter for the future.
Jury Comments
– [Hamidreza Khademi] Well-conceived interactive exhibition on sustainable construction. Good feasibility as it utilizes existing pavilions. The challenge lies in effectively implementing the interactive interface and managing multiple workshops.
– [Nichola V. Barrington-Leach] Interesting approach on material consciousness but unclear how it would be implemented.
– [Olli Andrew] A confused suggestion that doesn’t really hit the brief.
