ArchitectIntercollegiate campus in Moscow | concept | diploma | 2022
The project was designed in 2022 and focuses on the reorganisation of the area, through the creation of an inter-university campus on a site that is currently part of the former industrial zone No. 65 “Chertanovo”.
Campus as a university town is the most promising and effective way to organise the educational process. The main task of the design was to create a campus with convenient infrastructure for sustainable development of the university, which will be open to the city and become a new centre of attractiveness of the district. Also, the project suggestion was to promote the unification of competence centres in different fields on common and closely located sites for the formation of interdisciplinary teams.
The project site is located in the Southern Administrative District of Moscow, Chertanovo Severnoye district, and it is rectangular in shape, with an area of 17.3 acres. The project has developed a general master plan, which includes the main academic building (ring), exhibition, cultural and entertainment, sports (3 blocks, having the shape of a square in plan), research and laboratory building and dormitory building. The volumes of all the above blocks are separated from each other above ground for functional purposes, but united at -1 underground level for the convenience of movement within the campus, especially in unfavourable weather conditions.

The building of NICEVT, in the form of an arc over 700 metres long, to the north of the site has a strong influence on the formation of new architectural forms in its surroundings. The response to the “infinite” movement of the arc is the projected building in the form of a ring, which, by looping, has become the end of this movement. The circular building has the most important role on campus.
Also as a response to the arc, a diagonal direction was formed, which on the way from the metro starts from the underground passage under the Varshavskoye Highway and shoots deep into the site. Thus, from the underground passage visitors are immediately immersed in campus life, the entrances to the academic building, the city library and the single underground floor are on the -1 floor, further the ramp along the diagonal direction leads up to the ground level.
The cut-off part of the ring includes 2 large lecture halls, 2 smaller lecture halls and a small one with free seating. Along the auditoriums, stepped recreational spaces of amphitheatre type are organised on the sloping floor. A large number of recreational and public spaces both inside the buildings and on the campus become points of contact for representatives of different disciplines.
