The architectural project transforms the Panopticon into a futuristic museum with an innovative exhibition experience. The design flips the roles of humans and exhibits, storing the exhibits in the central tower due to limited space. Visitors walk through a glass corridor surrounding the tower, focusing their attention on the exhibition centre. What sets this design apart is the transparent maintenance and storage system, exposed to the outside corridor. This creates a unique exhibition experience and a versatile space for both storage and display.
The project takes advantage of the Panopticon’s circular form and adapts it to showcase a collection of exhibits. By placing the exhibits in the central tower, the design maximizes storage efficiency while creating a central focal point for visitors. The outer glass corridor provides an immersive journey, allowing visitors to appreciate panoramic views of both the exhibits and the surrounding environment.
What makes this concept groundbreaking is the transparent exposure of the maintenance and storage system. Visitors can see behind the scenes, witnessing the inner workings of the museum and blurring the lines between storage and exhibition. This not only creates a sense of transparency but also offers a unique spatial experience.
