The climate crisis and deforestation in the territory have caused a significant loss of the mangrove ecosystem in the urban area of Ladrilleros. The project aims to restore and conserve this ecosystem by taking advantage of the rising sea level in the region. It is proposed to modify the existing palafitic structures to generate a containment that will allow the planting of mangrove species, taking advantage of the constant interaction between fresh and salt water. This will allow the creation of pools to shelter these mangroves, protecting them in their early stages and facilitating their growth and expansion. In addition, part of the existing residential infrastructure will be reused to create niches to shelter the mangroves in their early stages. As an objective, it is planned to designate the area as a biopark, with elevated circulation for visitors to observe and contemplate the mangroves, without affecting the natural development of the ecosystem’s fauna and flora.
