Johana Mendoza (b. 1996, Ecuador) is a licensed architect originally from Quito, Ecuador, currently based in Seattle, Washington, where she works at Olson Kundig. She studied architecture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and has received multiple awards and honorable mentions in international architecture competitions, including Archisource, IDOarch, the Quechua Architecture Competition, and YACademy, among others. Her work has been featured on platforms such as Amazing Architecture and Archilovers, and was showcased on the Guggenheim Museum’s social media channels. Johana currently serves as an Honorary Jury Member for the Inspireli Awards, the world’s largest student architecture competition. Her practice blends architecture, art, and nature—employing hand-sketching, watercolor, and digital media to explore narrative and perception. With over five years of professional experience in renowned firms in both Ecuador and the United States, her approach is deeply personal, expressive, and rooted in cultural and artistic storytelling.
