Relativity Table

The inspiration for the table came from the way a mass warps the fabric of space-time. I tried to achieve this effect by implementing two interlocking planes. Using parametric modeling tools more than a hundred panels are created.

The interlocking of the panels also creates the structural support, holding the table up. After the conceptual design process, the parametric code was tweaked to fit material restrictions. MDF is chosen as the material because of its affordability even though its relatively heavy. Individual panels are created by a CNC machine. The pieces are then assembled for the final product.
