Mineral Sanctuaries stands as a tribute to the Himalayan minerals, drawing inspiration from their intricate structures, silhouettes, and compositions. Constructed using natural slate stone tiles, this project embodies the region’s essence while preserving its rich heritage. Earth subtractions delicately sculpted, crafting mesmerizing underground platforms that honor the earth’s natural contours.
A unique feature of this sanctuary is its play with light. Natural sunlight filters through zenith openings at dawn, noon, and dusk, painting the space in ever-changing hues. This dynamic illumination transforms the sanctuaries, creating an atmosphere of constant movement and tranquility.
What sets this project apart is its symbiotic relationship with nature. Instead of sealing itself off, it acts as a nurturing ground, allowing water condensation to be stored and reused. This integration with the environment is a testament to its sustainable design.
Mineral Sanctuaries isn’t just a structure; it’s a living, breathing entity. It harmonizes with the natural rhythm of the sun, inviting people to connect with the minerals and the Earth in an unassuming and genuine way.
Jury Comments
“This proposal, reminiscent of a natural cave, has a certain charm that makes one want to go there. If the level of graphics had been a little higher, the evaluation result would have been different.” – ATELIER MOZH
