Many Flats in Seoul, South Korea have adopted the pilotis system to secure parking spaces, creating a barren landscape surrounded by cores and parked cars in the city. Our project aims to create a new Cyclist Path for the city by transforming the pilotis of Flats into a space for bicycles instead of cars.
Our strategy is as follows:
First, simplify the route. Create a Cyclist Path that runs through the complex and connects to all residential cores in a circulation type.
Second, accessibility for residents. The area around the core is used as a yard and bicycle parking lot for residents, making it easy for them to use bicycles when leaving the building.
Third, greenery and pedestrian paths. Install pedestrian and greenery to provide pedestrian safety and a pleasant environment.
Fourth, create a lively space. The pilotis ceiling is designed with colors that represent the identity of each building.
As a result, we have created a space that combines Cyclist Path, greenery, and pedestrian paths in Flat pilotis. This space will be applied to residential blocks located between subway stations in the city, forming a park belt that allows people to easily access their destination by bicycle.

This idea for making heavy infrastructure for bicyles is blocking the implementation for bicycles in the urban fabric.
