The project aims to envelop potential recipients in a meditative ambiance by endeavoring to replicate the inner landscape of a meditating individual within physical space. Comprising three key elements— the quiet zone, water system, and meditation space—the project unfolds its transformative potential.
The quiet zone stands as a haven from the daily hustle, offering a sanctuary of silence. Here, attention is captivated by the gentle drip of water, fostering a connection with one’s inner self and kindling curiosity about meditation. This space also serves as an experimental ground for meditation, redirecting focus from silent thoughts to the calming sounds of water, guiding the mind towards tranquility.
At the core of the project lies the water, in perpetual circulation. Originating in the meditation zone, water droplets gracefully descend, eventually dripping into the reservoir in the quiet zone. Pumped back to the system’s beginning, the water completes its rhythmic cycle.
The meditation zone provides an exclusive setting for introspection. Its spherical form and partial “submersion” in the building evoke meditation’s core principles: grounding and self-observation. Serene water sounds and the presence of greenery cultivate a peaceful atmosphere, enhancing the well-being of those immersed in meditation.
Jury Comments
- The proposal is not just an addition to an existing building, but creates a symbiosis between the two with different levels of sensory experiences. -Olav Bruin
