AMSTERDAM CYCLING BRIDGE | THE GROVE BRIDGE
FINALISTS
The Grove Bridge is a project designed to facilitate uninterrupted connectivity between the shores of the Ij River through the juxtaposition of spaces that allow for the circulation rhythms of bicycle users and pedestrians; the access ramps are divided into three lanes (two for bicycle users and one for pedestrians) that subsequently bifurcate when connected to the main body, generating three spaces:
– A lower space that satisfy the function of circulation, parking and bicycle workshop.
– An intermediate space where public space activities, reading spaces, communal areas and small stores are developed around a large mall.
– An upper space designed as a walkable viewpoint.
Finally, the main quality of the project is to achieve the simultaneous appropriation of the same space by different users while promoting sustainable mobility and living a unique experience in the heights at the moment of witnessing the articulation between the distant landscape, water and nature.
