The Panopticon, historically a symbol of surveillance and restriction of freedom, is transforming. In our vision, it emerges as a beacon of liberation and expression, now reborn as a concert hall.
Music, a universal language, allows individuals to articulate their deepest emotions and thoughts. Our goal is to harness this power by providing a space where minds can roam freely, unrestricted by the oppressive gaze of surveillance.
Drawing inspiration from the untamed beauty of the Grand Canyon’s vast ravines, the outer design of the hall mirrors the rugged contours of nature untouched by human hands. These ridged walls evoke a sense of wild freedom and serve a practical purpose in shaping the hall’s acoustics. By mitigating the usual concentrating effect of circular rooms, they ensure optimal sound dispersion, enriching the auditory experience for all who enter.
Our transformed Panopticon is a testament to the transformative potential of art and architecture. Within its walls, patrons are invited to cast off the shackles of surveillance and immerse themselves in the realm of music, where self-expression knows no bounds.
This project was made by two 12th-grade classmates. Our dreams are to become architects and we wanted to begin our journey with this project.
