We looked at the organizers’ well-being list.
We felt a gap between the definition of well-being and the keywords suggested by the organizers. Well-being is not about choosing a consequential keyword, We thought it was an added value created by people’s actions with good motivation.
In the midst of these worries, we have discovered that there is a dilemma in how humans deal with well-being. So we decided to commercialize well-being in order to make it an object of choice. We compared it to Andy Warhol’s Campbell soup. Cans were placed in a cell of Panopticons that replaced people with bland objects. Panopticon was expressed as a production plant and logistics hub for well-being canned goods.
The person who chooses to consume it is expressed as the person sitting in the room and the tongs of the Panopticon’s surveillance tower. Cans and boxes in the room were intended to express the modern society’s tendency to show off well-being as a quantity.
In the overall picture,
Cans made of non-choiceable well-being into choicable products appear,
The hypocritical images of humans choosing commodified well-being according to their own preferences appear.
This expresses that a dilemma appears in the way humans treat well-being.
Jury Comments
“Theory and composition of ideas behind the image show project’s mastery. The drawing works as a framework in which we look for clues (part/framing), instigating the imagination of the architectural whole. Strong authorial point of view and expressive drawing.” -Mariela Mezalira
