StudentMetro Station Design Based on the Transit Oriented Development Model (TOD)
Site
- The project is located in the historic city of Isfahan, Iran. Situated parallel to the existing Kaveh bus terminal in the north part of the city, the proposed station will cater to the large number of visitors and travellers.
- The metro station will act as a cultural landmark that is representative of the historic city of Isfahan.
- Introduce the various historic buildings of the city by integrating art galleries in the proposed structure.
- The site is mainly surrounded with worn out structures and residential buildings and lacks commercial, cultural, and recreational destinations.
- Dedicate specific programs of the proposed station to commercial, cultural and recreational purposes.
- Increase the popularity of the site and attract more visitors which in turn will help with increasing the property value and quality of life. This will also help lessen the currently high percentage of people who are moving out of the area.

Transit Oriented Development Model
- This model proposes that the main transit system of an area is situated in the central part of the city and then surrounded with other programs that include commercial, institutional and recreational buildings and public spaces.
- The model uses the central placement of the station in order to encourage the fair distribution of people and goods throughout the city.
- By making the transit system accessible to all the cities inhabitants, the model encourages the use of public transit which in turn lessens the use of private transportation. As a result, there is a decrease in pollution which helps lessen the negative environmental impacts. ÂÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
