Villa Savoye, designed by Le Corbusier, stands as a quintessential emblem of modern architecture. Revered by the architectural world, this iconic structure symbolizes the birth of Modern Architecture and epitomizes the international style, making it easily distinguishable and highly esteemed.

Upon my initial glimpse of Villa Savoye, it struck me with its resemblance to a grand piano. Thus, in this artwork, Le Corbusier is depicted playing a piano reminiscent of Villa Savoye. Among the audience:

Contractors -represent the challenges endured by the villa, including issues such as rainwater leaks and staining.

The Family Walking Away -signifies the Savoye family’s decision to relinquish the property.

Soldiers -symbolize the occupation of the house by both German and American forces during World War II.

Demolishers -embody those advocating for the demolition of the villa to construct a schoolhouse complex.

Architects and Enthusiasts – symbolize the individuals who protest in efforts to preserve and refurbish the villa.

Le Corbusier aspired to ignite a trend of “machines for living.” His renowned “Five points of Architecture” found their most prominent manifestation in the design of Villa Savoye. Villa Savoye is the grand piano, stands as an emblematic instrument of the 20th century, composing a new symphony for modern architecture.
