Humanity consistently harbors aspirations for a more favorable future. While altering the past may be beyond our capabilities, our efforts should be directed towards constructing a more favorable future, as the present serves as the pivotal factor in determining a prosperous tomorrow. The Balay x Project: Siglo is a residential dwelling that has been specifically developed to tackle the many obstacles and capitalize on the potential opportunities associated with living in the year 2123.
The Philippines is vulnerable to natural disasters, with 60% of its geographical area and 74% of its population are at risk of various hazards such as floods, typhoons, droughts, earthquakes, tsunamis, and landslides. When human activities persistently contribute to global warming through the ongoing release of greenhouse gases at the present rate. Coastal flooding is anticipated to escalate in tandem with the progressive elevation of sea levels. The process of glacial and ice sheet melting contributes to the overall increase in ocean volume, while the warming of water causes it to expand. Furthermore, the occurrence of flash floods is expected to rise due to the escalation of intense precipitation events.
In the future, the efficacy of good drainage and disaster preparedness measures may become insufficient. However, with the continuous progress in technology and architecture, it is plausible that humanity can coexist harmoniously even in aquatic environments.
Balay is a home designed in the year 2123, it aims to offer resilient and lightweight housing solutions that can accommodate various residential lifestyles. Balay represents a prefabricated sustainable dwelling that is mostly constructed using 3D printing technology. The advancement of technology has led to the development of Project: Siglo, a pioneering smart technology invention that has the potential to greatly enhance residential environments. This technology facilitates the inhabitation of a home in an environment that is inherently dangerous and inhospitable. Balay and Project: Siglo collaborate to create a self-sustaining and durable residential structure capable of withstanding adverse environmental conditions.
