The Yellow Elder
The Yellow Elder Beach Club is located in an idyllic private island in The Bahamas, the club con-
cept is a balanced juxtaposition of architecture with the natural surroundings. Its program includes
a bar, restaurant, private and massage cabanas, and a variety of seating options in a comfortable
area for guests. The program is protected by flower-shaped wooden modules that work similarly to
beach umbrellas.
The flower shape is inspired by the Yellow Elder flower, the National emblem of The Bahamas.
Its wooden CLT structure touches the ground at its center, and expands into a circular 40 square
meter canopy at the top. the structure is accompanied by PVC covers to bring protection from the
sun, wind and humidity while providing covering for people to place beach beds, seats and tables
under them. Both materials are keys to generate a highly crafted organic and flowing structure, that
mimics tropical shapes and generates a bright and lightweight feeling.
