Thermal Stage
Location: Washoe, Nevada, USA
Thermal Stage redefines the perception of geothermal energy utilization and immerses people in an interactive environment, showcasing physical phenomena during energy production. By leveraging advanced technology, it distinguishes itself from traditional geo-power plants and offers an unexpected engagement with visitors.
Inspired by Fly Geyser, the design celebrates the abundant geothermal resources of the land, manifesting as a captivating and site-specific feature capable of generating clean energy and bridging the gap between technology and human perception. Drawing from the form of Fly Geyser, Thermal Stage integrates art with technology, aiming to harmonize with the environment while showcasing the potential of natural energy.
Comprising the TEG Ring Belt and the Central Tower, the structure provides a horizontal stage for public events atop Fly Reservoir. Beneath its semi-transparent surface lies a circular grid of thermoelectric generator (TEG) modules, essential for geothermal energy harvesting. The double-layered Central Tower extends skyward, facilitating steam condensation and water reuse, creating an artificial rainfall spectacle for visitors. The collected water is directed to designated ponds and buried tanks for community use, while harvested electricity is stored in underground batteries.
