“Another cycle of life” is based on the controversial project of a new motorway in south of France : the A69. To fight against this ecosystem ravaging project, some activists suggest a fictional alternative : “The other way”.
The motorway project has been replaced by the National Cycle Route 1, which crosses France and allows cyclists to rediscover their rural territory. Here, the energy tower provides power for the brick factory and a small accommodation building for travellers. A circular economy is created, using locally produced resources: recuperation of water, use of bricks for their constructive and thermal virtues, use of organic waste produced by agriculture to produce energy.
The bicycle is a way of mobility, but also of production of energy and daily resources.
The accommodation, which is grafted onto an existing house, uses bicycle to power the blender, washing machine, shower, herb dryer and shutters,
Food is produced locally, in the vegetable garden and permaculture areas. New types of bikes have been designed to harvest or dig in the soil.
The tower produces energy thanks to its height and the use of the methanisation principle. The footbridges and viewpoints give a panoramic view : people and nature are reconnected thanks to this cycling way of life.

I appreciate the activist approach of the project and the intention to create “Another cycle of life”. However I would like to see this intention through an architectural form that serve its purpose.
